ADMINISTRATION

The Wellness Center will have a lead agency with overall responsibility for administration, operations and oversight. There is an identified staff person responsible for the health center’s overall management, quality of care, and coordination with BVROP’s Educational Services personnel.

STAFFING & YOUTH-LED SERVICES

Through our CTE INDUSTRY SECTOR and CAREER PATHWAYS offered at BVROP, our students who are aged 16+ years-old add value to the Wellness Center by it being a community classroom in which work-based learning may occur.  Some examples of this are:

INDUSTRY SECTOR:  PUBLIC SERVICES

  • Emergency Medical Responder

  • Law Enforcement Occupations

  • Firefighting Technology

  • Criminal Justice

  • Public Safety & Forensic Science (Crime Scene Investigation)

INDUSTRY SECTOR:  HEALTH SCIENCE & MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY

  • Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) -

Our RDA students can provide dental education in the Wellness Center, clean and polish teeth in the RDA lab room , apply fluoride and sealants and take dental X-rays. We have a partnership with Loma LInda University dental school and may provide resources for restorative services such as extractions and fillings, and diagnose dental problems.

  • Medical Assistant (MA) –

Our MA students under the supervision of our MA Instructors  take patient vital signs, medical histories, give immunizations, draw labs, administer hearing and vision screenings, and provide first aid to patients with minor injuries. They follow up on no-shows, record health information, and enter patient data.

  • Mental and Behavioral Health

BVROP Mental & Behavioral Health students are able to offer peer counseling in mindfulness, social emotional learning competency skills, neuroscience, teen Mental Health First Aid, establishing calming corners or spaces, coping skills, and self-care strategies.

BVROP utilizes mental health interns or practicum students still enrolled in their graduate degree programs. Interns are enrolled in a structured program that includes specified hours of individual and group supervision, case conferencing, and other quality assurance mechanisms. BVROP also has several hired staff who hold professional degrees in counseling or another field. These staff may provide direct services to youth and families as long as the individual’s job description is consistent with their skills and training and does not exceed their scope of practice.
