BVROP Student Wellness Advisory Council

Our advisory council is generally comprised of 10-15 members representing various fields including, for example: 

  • Students/youth

  • School district officials and/or school board members

  • Medical providers, school nurses, mental health providers and/or dentists

  • School administrators and teachers

  • Local health department officials

  • Community leaders

  • Parents/family members

  • Media

  • Business leaders

  • Religious leaders

  • Local judicial officials such as parole officers or judges 

 

The membership of our advisory council relates to our Wellness Center’s services. Our Student Wellness Advisory Council also reflects the gender, ethnic, class and other types of diversity present in our community. 

 

ROLE OF THE BVROP STUDENT WELLNESS ADVISORY COUNCIL

Our advisory council is actively involved in advising the Wellness Center staff on programs, policies and procedures, and advocacy. Our student wellness advisory council may be asked to review scope of services, hours of operation, wellness center policies, participant satisfaction surveys, community partnerships and advocacy efforts. 


 

OUR WELLNESS CENTER STRENGTHENED BY YOUTH ENGAGEMENT IN STUDENTS:

  • Advising on Wellness Center policies, such as when the center is open, what types of services to offer, and whether those services are offered in culturally appropriate ways

  • Developing or assisting with marketing efforts that reach youth

  • Helping design health education programs on nutrition, substance abuse, etc. 

  • Evaluating services and practices 

  • Advocating for the health center with policymakers and administrators
