The first step in the enrollment process is to schedule and sit for your TABE exam! The Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE) is designed to assess the skills and knowledge of adult learners in applied math, mathematic computation, reading, and language. Powered by DRC INSIGHT, students are notified of their TABE exam score immediately after completing their exam in the Baldy View ROP Career Training Center computer lab.

When ready to schedule the TABE Exam, program candidates can:

- Submit an Adult Interest Form to receive a call from a staff member
- Register online through Constant Contanct
IS THERE A COST TO TAKE THE TABE EXAM?
Nope! Candidates can take the TABE exam free of charge as many times as needed to achieve the appropriate score for their program of interest.

WHAT VERSION OF THE TABE EXAM IS USED BY BALDY VIEW ROP?
Candidates sitting for the TABE Exam are issued TABE Level D/Form 9 & 10.
HOW LONG IS THE TABE EXAM?
Each candidate is tested in four areas: Applied Math, Mathematic Computation, Reading, and Language. Each section consists of 25 questions and is timed.
Applied Math - 25 questions/25 minutes
Mathematic Computation - 25 questions/15 minutes
Reading - 25 questions/25 minutes
Language - 25 questions/25 minutes
Students work at their own pace as long as they complete each section in the allotted amount of time. Each section is independently timed and the time will not begin until the tester selects a specific section.
EXAM RESULTS AND REQUIREMENTS
Candidates sitting for the TABE Exam are immediately notified of their score following the completion of their testing session. Each candidate will meet with the Student Services Specialist to review each area score. Candidates must receive a score of 11 in each of the four sections and a score of 11 for the overall total battery.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY SCORE IS LOWER THAN THE REQUIRED 11?
No problem! The candidate is more than welcomed to scheduled another TABE Exam session during an available testing session time and retake the exam. A candidate is welcomed to take the exam as many times as they like.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING THE TESTING SESSION?
Testing sessions begin promptly at the scheduled testing time. Candidates are encouraged to arrive at least 15 minutes before their scheduled testing time to fill out any necessary paperwork. Candidates will be lead into the Baldy View ROP Career Training Center computer lab where the exam will be proctored and video recorded. Each candidate will be issued a case sensitive Username and Password that will be unique to their testing profile and testing session. Once the test has begun, candidates are free to test at their own pace within the allotted time and in the order of sections they feel most comfortable with.
During the math portion, candidates will be offered an erasable board or scratch paper to help with answer computation. CALCULATORS ARE ONLY ALLOWED DURING THE MATH APPLICATOIN PORTION OF THE EXAM AND WILL BE PROVIDED THROUGH THE TESTING PROGRAM. Erasable boards and all scratch paper must be surrendered at the completion of the exam.
CELL PHONES, FOOD, and DRINK ARE NOT PERMITTED DURING TESTING SESSIONS.
